Detailed review of Norwegian Sun cruise ship!
Norwegian Sun was the first NCL ship totally devoted to “freestyle cruising” experience. Marketed as the most unusual cruise ship afloat, Norwegian Sun got her share of attention during her launch in Miami and is still one of the better-known NCL cruise ships. The interior design favors bright colors typical also for other NCL ships.
Basic information & facts
“Norwegian Sun is a 78,309-ton, 13-deck and 1,936-passenger mid-to-large cruise ship (though her size is comparable to the biggest U.S. aircraft carriers). Debuted in 2001 along with her sister ship, Norwegian Star, Norwegian Sun is best-known for her extremely helpful crew and smooth boarding process.
Dining
“There are nine restaurants aboard Norwegian Sun, all offering meals in the open-seated manner. The only limitation is that dinner is served from 4.30 pm to 9.30 pm. It is relaxed somewhat by a 24/7 eatery and room service. One word of advice: of two main dining rooms, Seven Seas offers contemporary cuisine while Four Seasons specializes in traditionally prepared meals. Pay attention to the independent dessert station near the Garden Cafe – their ice-cream is exquisite!
Cabins
“The cabins are decorated in reds, yellows, blues and greens – colors are lively and you will surely feel good, even though they are not exactly classy or elegant. The staterooms are bigger than you might expect, with most amenities available, including a water boiler and coffee maker (with some coffee actually included). The only possible drawback is the clinical-looking molded bathroom – very useful and well-designed, but not exactly good-looking.
Not-to-be-missed
“Norwegian Sun offers possibly the best entertainment aboard a cruise ship ever, with lots of shows, pool-games, contests and art auctions. Especially Ship ‘n’ Males Review is unforgettable – the group of crew members do strip-tease to their boxers to the tunes like “Livin’ La Vida Loca” or “I’m too sexy”. It’s a lot of fun for everyone, and usually some embarrassment for the crew members who have problems in coping with hooting ladies stuffing the crews’ boxers with dollar bills. Despite its appearance it’s mostly good fun and not lewd. However, don’t bring your children with you…
Where does she go?
Depending on the year and the month, Norwegian Sun sails either to Alaska, the Caribbean or to the Central America.
